Precautions!

ATTENTION:
Never watch the sun with unguarded eyes!

Protect your eyes with filters!

Don't use unsuitable equipment like carbon blacked glasses, black film stripes or something like that. All these measures don't reduce light and heat radiation in a sufficient way. If you observe the eclipse with your eyes only, use eclipse glasses. These were - :( - available at special stores, observatories or planetariums at very little cost. Observation of the totality phase itself is of no danger and should be done without any filtering. If you plan to use binoculars or telescopes, objective or ocular filters are available. You should use objective filters as ocular filters may burst due to overheating.

How do you photograph a solar eclipse?

Many people may want to capture this astronomical event onto photographic film. It's quite easy to photograph the totality as you don't need any filter or special equipment.

The recommended exposure times are listed in the following table. They are valid for a film speed of ISO 100.

Please ensure to do enough exposure testing before the eclipse.
